This Week in Trailers

Pacific Rim

Pacific Rim - Guillermo del Toro's latest directorial (director of Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth). To be honest, I'm not really looking forward to this one. The graphics don't look overly awesome, and I don't like the "look" of the film. I don't know what it is, I can't put my finger on it. It may even be the overuse of crappy CG animation. Plus the whole premise doesn't catch me. Meh! Australian release date 11 July 2013 [IMDB]

Yelling to the Sky

Yelling to the Sky - When this trailer started, I dreaded it may be another "Glee" movie. Words can't express how happy I am that it's not. Yelling to the Sky feels like a "nothing else is on so let's watch this" film. Not pumped for it, but I'm not completely throwing it away. I'm also glad that Jason Clarke is getting big in films! Look out for him in 2013. Australian release date (unknown at publish date)

 G.I. Joe: Retaliation

G.I. Joe: Retaliation - This trailer looks NUTS! It feels like a weird three-way cross between X-Men, Iron Man and Team America. I wasn't keen at all for the first movie (dubbed the "Wayans Effect"), but I'm kind of oddly jacked for the sequel..? Directed by Jon M. Chu, the director of Step Up 3D and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, this movie must have been a real change of pace for him. And finally, joining the cast to give it a must-needed boost, BRUCE EFFING WILLIS. Trailer must be doing its job! Australian release date 28 March 2013 [IMDB]

The Haunting in Connecticut 2: The Ghosts of Georgia

The Haunting in Connecticut 2: The Ghosts of Georgia - DAMN, I cannot stomach horror like I used to. The first film, made in 2009, was way scary. This sequel looks like it may trump it, with more ghosts and frights, and the use of black and white shots - kind of unnerving. Watch at your own peril..... Australian release date (unknown at publish date), US release date 1 February 2013 [IMDB]

Star Trek Into Darkness

Star Trek Into Darkness - Loving the images of future Earth here! I hope it's Earth.. Or else my "geek cover" has been blown... J.J. Abrams has done wonders to this franchise. This may fall into one of my favourite J.J. films, along with the first Star Trek, Super 8 and Cloverfield. Plus, Benedict Cumberbatch, along with winning "Most Memorable Name of 2012", would do a menacing villain, and I can't wait to see the full thing! Australian release date 16 May 2013 [IMDB]
