Pain and Gain
Pain and Gain - Get pumped! This new film from Michael Bay is the lowest budget movie that he's done since Bad Boys. Loving the casting (Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Ed Harris and Tony Shalhoub), loving the funnies, and the action looks full on. Give The Fast and the Furious and Bad Boys lovechild a protein hit and you have Pain and Gain. Damn this movie looks fun. Australian release date 26 April 2013 [IMDB]
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone - This is a film that slipped under the radar for me, but I am so glad I came across the trailer. Fantastic cast made of Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi, Olivia Wilde, Alan Arkin and Jim Carrey (in what looks like his best role since The Grinch - seriously, he's gold in that). Australian release date 14 March 2013 [IMDB]
Turbo
Turbo - Borrow the music from Drive, and put it over a teaser for a racing snail voiced by Ryan Reynolds. You got Turbo. Australian release date 19 September 2013 [IMDB]
The Place Beyond the Pines
The Place Beyond the Pines - Ryan Gosling's natural progression from Drive, except now he actually has lines. He plays a motorcycle stunt rider who considers committing a crime to provide for his wife and child, only to come face to face with the good cop Bradley Cooper. This movie looks great, seems to have a decent balance of character development and action, and again a star cast: Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, Rose Byrne, Dane DeHaan and Ray Liotta (Ray's casting may be a little obvious?). Australian release date 9 May 2013 [IMDB]
Scary Movie 5
Scary Movie 5 - OMG it's back! Expect nothing new from this installment of Scary Movie except for the absense of Anna Faris, Regina Hall and Leslie Nielsen (the finest comedic actor in history, may he rest in peace). I do appreciate a good parody, and I do love the selection of film parodies they've previewed here (Paranormal Activity, Inception, Black Swan). Australian release date 11 April 2013 [IMDB]
A Good Day to Die Hard
A Good Day to Die Hard - "Here we go again" - not. Put the last Die Hard on steroids and cross it with Mission Impossible - This looks like an epic action film that's different from the others, which is not surprising as it's directed by John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, The Omen, Max Payne). Wondering how it ties in with the last ones (if it does..?). Australian release date 21 March 2013 [IMDB]
Identity Thief
Identity Thief - Want to see Jason Bateman play the role that he always plays? Cut him out of Arrested Development, Horrible Bosses or The Change-Up and paste him into Identity Thief. This will be nothing but a typical opposites-bonding comedy sprinkled with action. Australian release date 28 February 2013 [IMDB]
