Here at Film'Stache, we get real excited by new trailers. Each week we trawl the internet for the latest and greatest, which are shown to you below in this segment weekly. Let us know what you think in the comments section, or comment on our Youtube page.
Spring Breakers
Spring Breakers: Come on, y'all! Why you actin 'spicious? Spring Breakers, starring James Franco in a massively different role as drug and arms dealer Alien, and Ashley Benson, Venessa Hudgens, Rachel Korine and Selena Gomez as a group of college girls looking for some quick moneys. Gotta be honest, this trailer gets me excited for the movie, but more so to see Franco in this role! This is Harmony Korine's first feature length movie as director, after years of directing short films and television. Looks crazy, but expecting nothing from the movie as a whole. Look out for this one 22 March, 2013 (US) [IMDB]
Red 2
Red 2: The first Red movie came out a few years ago, I never saw it. It and it's sequel, Red 2, look like very standard action films, but with older heroes. Think The Expendables at your grandmother's retirement home. Australian release date 1 August, 2013 [IMDB]
The End of Love
The End of Love: The End of Love premiered at Sundance Film Festival last year, and features Mark Webber wearing the actor/director hat. Webber stars as Mark, a grieving father struggling to raise his 2 year old son. Also starring Shannyn Sossamon, Michael Cera, Aubrey Plaza and Amanda Seyfried. This is the movie that will have me in genuine tears this year. Release date 1 March, 2013 (initial release 21 January, 2012) (US) [ComingSoon.net]
The East
The East: Another Sundance entry (2013), The East. This trailer gave me the impression that this is going to be a real "fight terror with terror" movie, having an anarchist group attack big corporations for the harm inflicted on the environment. While the film may well be that, the IMDB synopsis delves further into the main plot, "A story centered on contract worker who is tasked with infiltrating an anarchist group, only to find herself falling for its leader." Directed by almost-first-film-director Zal Batmanglij, it will be interesting to see if the movie grips me in the way the trailer does. Release date TBA.
At Any Price
At Any Price: Another newcomer director, Ramin Bahrani, brings us the story of the relationship between a father (Dennis Quaid) and his rebellious son (Zac Efron) during a time of family crisis. At Any Price first premiered at the 69th Venice International Film Festival on 31 August, 2012. This picture has since been picked up by Sony Pictures Classics, and is set for limited release on 26 April, 2013 (US) [ComingSoon.net]
